JH Girls Regionals Continue….Salem, Selmaville & Iuka loses…New Horizon advances

The Franklin Park girl’s basketball season came to an end last night in the semifinal of the Centralia Class L regional falling to Carlyle 27-21.  Salem ends their season at 19-8.  Carlyle advances to tomorrow’s title game against Wesclin after their 48-11 win over Centralia Junior High.

Tonight in Class L at Mt Carmel, the hosts open with Flora followed by Olney and Carmi.


In Class S last night, Selmaville’s season ended with a loss to Bartelso in the semifinals at Bartelso 54-26.  Shelby Johnson had 11 and Alana Finney and Talya Gowler added 6 to finish the year 12-11.  Bartelso advances to tomorrow’s title game against New Horizon after their beat Trinity St Mary’s 43-24.

New Horizon knocked off Trinity St. Mary’s last night 42-24. New Horizon jumped out to a 16-0 lead after one quarter, but the Defenders answered back with a 12 to 6 second quarter to go in to halftime losing 22-12. The Crusaders never looked back from there and ended the game with three players in double figures as Annalyn Bass lead all scorers with 17, Addison had 13, and Liv Torrence added 11.

At Raccoon tonight, Summersville takes on Bethel followed by Mount Vernon St Mary’s and Opdyke-Belle Rive.

At Allendale, Iuka’s season ended with a loss to New Hope 45-40.  New Hope will take on St Joe Olney in the championship tomorrow.


In Class M regional semifinals last night at Steeleville, Nashville beat Sesser Valier 53-1, Pinckneyville over Steelville St Mark’s 37-11.

Odin/Patoka’s season came to an end with a loss to Breese at Woodlawn 60-27.  Breese moves on to play Woodlawn after their 54-22 win over Rome.
