The Centralia Orphans ran their record to 18-0 on Tuesday night by overwhelming Charleston 62-28 in front of a big crowd at Trout Arena on “Red Out Night.” Centralia scored 13 of the game’s first 15 points, stretched their lead to 20 by halftime and triggered a running clock with a 31-point lead after three quarters.

Orphans coach Lee Bennett says his team did a good job pressuring Charleston into committing turnovers and converting those mistakes into points.

“I thought we shot it pretty well. We were able to pressure them into some turnovers that led to some easy baskets. I thought we rebounded alright. We got lethargic coming out in the third quarter. I didn’t like that, but they snapped out of it pretty quick.”

The Orphans buried 11 three-pointers, including four by Daryle Jones, who led all scorers with 18 points. Dustyn Collins scored 12 points and Cruz Harlan had 10 points for CHS. Centralia travels to Mt. Vernon for a showdown with the Rams on Friday night.
