Sandoval Police Chief Joe Lyons says they are still seeking a suspect who allegedly struck a 42-year-old Centralia woman in the head with the flat portion of a hatchet on Sunday morning.
Lyons says the woman was treated and released for her injuries at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. He reports the incident occurred during a disagreement with another woman in a home in the 300 block of South Maple. The alleged victim was visiting a friend at the time the incident occurred around 8:45 Sunday morning.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies took the initial call as the alleged victim was being taken by private vehicle to the hospital for treatment. At that time, no one would open the door of the residence.
Lyons says the case was later handed over to his department. They have not yet located the suspect.
