A 19-year-old Salem woman escaped injury when her SUV hit a parked car in the 500 block of North Shelby Street and overturned on its side.

Salem Police say Emily Smith of West Locust was working as a pizza delivery person.  While traveling southbound on North Shelby, she apparently looked at a map for the location of her next delivery and didn’t see the parked car.

Smith was able to get out of the car on her own before emergency help arrived.

The Salem Fire Protection District and United Medical Response joined Salem Police on the scene.

Smith was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for no insurance.

The crash was reported at 7:08 Friday night.
