2025 01/04 – Marilee Anne Anderson

Merilee Anne Anderson, 84, of Johnston City, formerly of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, December 24th at 10:35 am at Aspen Valley Senior Home in Washington, MO.

Merilee was born on June 15, 1940, in Albion, IL to the late Lester and Susie (Harris) Saxe. She was united in marriage on November 29, 1958, to Carl Lindell Anderson. They shared 63 years of marriage before his passing on August 6, 2022.

Merilee was a 1958 graduate of Benton High School. After graduation, she moved to Springfield, IL where she worked for the State of Illinois. She and Lindell started their family in Springfield and then moved to Salem in 1968. Merilee was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She attended Grace United Methodist Church in Salem until moving to Johnston City. Merilee enjoyed golfing, cheering for Salem Wildcat basketball games, and being involved in her church. She was an amazing wife and mother. She most especially enjoyed being a MeMe to her four grandchildren.

Merilee is survived by two children, Phil (Karen) Anderson of Johnston City, Tricia (Mark) Seely of Union, MO; four grandchildren, Brett (Lauren) Anderson of Marion, Grant (Savannah) Anderson of Johnston City, Taylor and Matthew Seely both of Union, MO, great-grandchildren Ava Jo Anderson, Chase Anderson, and Case Anderson; two brothers, Tom Saxe of Thompsonville, Larry (Sharon) Saxe of Morrisonville, IL, one sister, Elaine (Norman) Hayden of Cape Girardeau, MO and brother-in-law, Larry Trout of Johnston City.

Merilee is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister-in-law Peggy Trout, sister-in-law Susan Saxe, and infant brother David Saxe.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Becker Cemetery in Johnston City.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available on the day of the service.
