Rosalyn Ann Uphold, age 84, of Kinmundy, Illinois was the daughter of Charles W. Lowe and Lenora Doolen Lowe, born January 12, 1940, in rural Kinmundy, Marion County, Illinois at home. Went to be with her Lord at 12:12 pm, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Helia Healthcare of Salem.
She graduated from Kinmundy-Alma High School. In high school, she played trumpet in the band and was on the Student Council, for which she was selected to represent Kinmundy-Alma at a conference in Jacksonville, Illinois. After graduation, she went to Champaign-Urbana and worked at the News-Gazette Newspaper.
While working in Champagin Rosalyn met and later married Virgil E. Uphold on November 27, 1958, as he was an aircraft instructor at the Chanute Air Force Base at Rantoul, Illinois. They had four boys: Roger L. (killed in an auto accident at 19 years old), Alan W. (married Connie Weidner), Dennis C. (married Christy Myers), and Darrell L. (married Linda Wilcoxen).
She was beloved by her family and was much devoted to them. A good wife and mother, she had seven grandchildren: Kirsten, Kendra, Kelsey, Shanna, Seth, Zachary, and Nathan Uphold; eight great-grandchildren: Sophia, Maddox, and Harper Daugherty, Christian, Jenna, Ava, and Madison Ambuehl, and Adeline Duck.
Rosalyn loved to travel and was able to visit all fifty-one states and was able to view a lot of their sites. She was a Christian and Baptized believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, having been a former member of the Clay City Christian Church, and Brown Christian Church, and currently attending the Alma Christan Church.
Funeral services to celebrate Rosalyn’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Alma Christian Church with Pastor Randy VanAusdall officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and then on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Donations may be made in Rosalyn’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Donor’s Choice and will be accepted through the funeral home.
