A 30-year-old Central City man has been arrested by Centralia Police on an arrest warrant charging ten counts of possession of child pornography.

Jason Howard of South Harrison was taken to the Marion County Jail and will appear in court later on Wednesday to determine if he will be released on bond.

The investigation was handled by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bobby Wallace through his work with the Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.

Wallace says he first received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in October 2022 about Howard allegedly being involved in child pornography through Facebook Messenger.   A search warrant was then executed on Howard’s home of his electronic devices in June of last year.   Wallace says mostly still photos were recovered.

With the investigation recently completed, the case was turned over to the Marion County State’s Attorney’s Office which then issued the arrest warrant.
