The Salem Wildcats split their games at the Duster Thomas on Thursday. Salem opened with a 58-32 win over Woodlawn. The Wildcats hit 11 three pointers as a team, 5 from Gavin Zimmermann who led the Cats with 19. Noah Nix finished with 10.
Salem then dropped their consolation semifinal to Roxana 39-35 in overtime. Salem was led by Zimmermann’s 10 points. Salem will close down the tournament today at noon in the 11th place game when they play Trico in a game you can hear on WJBD after they fell to Okawville 45-26.
Olney advanced to the title game after trailing by double digits to Benton early in the 4th. Ian Winkler was fouled on a half court desperation 3 at the buzzer with the game tied and made free throws with 0.4 seconds left on the clock to lead the Tigers 55-54. The Tigers will get Pinckneyville in the finals after their 59-36 win over Murphysboro.
Carlyle lost to Mounds Meridian 75-48 and will play Mt Carmel at 4pm for 7th place. Woodlawn and Christopher will play at 9am for 15th place.
