Sesser/Valier: The Sesser Valier Tournament continued yesterday. Waltonville advanced to the finals with their 59-44 win over Red Bud. They will get Goreville who beat Altamont 67-50. Sesser Valier beat Marissa 68-65 to move to the consolation finals against DuQuoin who beat New Athens 61-57.
Columbia/Freeburg: The Columbia/Freeburg Tournament opened yesterday. Columbia beat Civic Memorial 51-32, Marquette over Waterloo 49-46, Gibault knocked off Nelson County, Kentucky 52-47, Marquette beat Freeburg 60-44, Waterloo over the Columbia JV 36-30 and Columbia beat Gibault 57-37.
Today, Freeburg and the JV from Columbia play at 11 followed by Civic Memorial and Nelson County, then the Columbia JV and Marquette, Gibault takes on Civic Memorial, Columbia and Nelson County followed by Waterloo and Freeburg.
Eldorado: The Eldorado Tournament continued last night. Harrisburg advanced to the semifinals with their 52-44 win over Carterville, they will play Massac County who beat Vienna 58-51, Herrin over Fairfield 50-41 and Carmi beat Anna 47-38. In the consolation semifinals, Hamilton County beat Edwards County 58-43 and Eldorado beat Gallatin County 53-47.
The day begins today with the fifth place bracket semifinal at 8:30 with Carterville and Vienna followed by Fairfield and Anna Jonesboro at 10. Then at noon its Harrisburg and Massac followed by Herrin and Carmi. The consolation title game is at 3pm, followed by the 5th place game at 6 then the 3rd place game at 7:30 and 9pm championship.
Mater Dei: The opening day at the Mater Dei Tournament saw Red Bay over Riverview Gardens 63-50, Orchard Farm beat McCluer 61-48, Breese Central over Metro East Lutheran 45-25, Nashville nipped Mascoutah 51-46, Mater Dei over Riverview 65-45 and Wesclin beat McCluer 63-46.
Today, Bowen opens with MEL at 11 followed by Kewanee Wethersfield and Nashville, Wesclin plays Orchard Farm, Central will play Bowen, Mascoutah and Wethersfield and then Red Bay and Mater Dei will finish the day.
Dieterich: The SC Cougars finished pool play at the Dieterich Tournament 0-3 falling to Sullivan 37-27. Max Magnus had 9 to lead the Cougars. SC will open the trophy day today at 1 when they play Ramsey for 7th place. CHBC and Red Hill play for 5th at 2:30 followed by Arcola and Grayville for 3rd at 4pm and then at 8pm tonight in the championship its Dieterich and Sullivan.
Vandalia: Christ Our Rock improved to 2-1 at the Vandalia Holiday Tournament with their 50-46 win over Macon Meridian. They continue play today at 12:30 against Pana. Also yesterday, Vandalia beat Nokomis 49-23 and Cumberland 52-33, Shelbyville beat Nokomis 52-35 and Okaw Valley 69-46 with Flora losing to Meridian 56-52 and Greenville beating Pana 47-34.
