The Centralia High School Board has approved a $600,000 grant for a distance learning program that will also benefit eight other schools.
Patoka, Odin, South Central, Sandoval, Trico, Crab Orchard, and Chester high schools, along with New Holland Junior High will enter the distance learning program starting in the next school year.
The grant will pay for equipment that will enable students in participating schools to take classes offered at other schools in the distance learning network remotely, giving students more options for their class schedules.
Teachers will receive additional extra pay through this program by teaching classes that are offered as distance options.
