All the waiting and planning and stressing is over as the Salem Wildcats Wrestling Team hosted their first ever home meet to B.E. Gum in year 2 of their program.
Salem welcomed Herrin and powerhouse Mount Vernon to the mat and finished the night 1-1 with a win over the Tigers 66-21 and a very competitive loss to the Rams 54-27.
Killion Merrill and Keyton King both won 2 matches and earned pins against Mount Vernon. The Match of the night was an exhibition match with Salem’s Granger Motch winning in Sudden Victory earning a takedown to win his match in front of a loud and excited crowd.
Salem is 11-5 on the season. The Wildcats return to action tomorrow at the Skull and Crossbones Invitational in Cumberland.
