By WJBD Staff Dec 8, 2023 | 8:02 AM

The Salem Lady Wildcats dropped their 4th game out of their last 5 with a Cahokia loss at Columbia 56-40.  The Midgets had a 19-6 lead after the opening quarter and led 31-14 at the halftime break.  Salem went on a run in the 4th quarter and cut the deficit to 14 with the ball, but wouldn’t get any closer.  Kayla Felgenhaur scored 9 of her team-high 12 points in the 4th quarter.  Marah Johnson was also in double figures with 10.  Columbia was led by their two-headed monster as point guard Sam Schmuke finished with 19 and center Jordan Holten finished with 18.  Salem will be back in action at home on Tuesday when they welcome Newton on Monday.

Last night Carterville star athlete Amayah Doyle became the all time leading scorer for the Lady Lions program surpassing the career record of 1755, set by Jeniah Thompson.  Amayah hit the mark after scoring 20 points in the first half during their 65-40 win over Anna.  She will continue her softball career next year at the University of Tennessee.
