Wildcats Get Tennyson, Nix Double-Doubles In Shootout Win Over Cisne…Prep Weekend Scores

The Salem Wildcats took out their offensive frustrations on the Cisne Runnin’ Lions on Saturday at the Mount Vernon SSM Health Shootout, beating the MTC representatives 68-48.  Salem shot 61% from the field for the game and were led by Connor Tennyson.  The senior finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Noah Nix also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.  Sharpshooter Gavin Zimmermann made 4 more three pointers and finished with 14.  Salem is back in action with a pair of home games this week hosting Mascoutah on Tuesday and then Columbia Friday.

Also at the Shootout, Breese Central is 6-0 after beating previously unbeaten Newton 64-35 and Mount Vernon beat Mascoutah 53-43.

Also on Saturday, Mater Dei lost in overtime to Alton Marquette 51-49, Marion over Effingham 69-39, Olney over Carbondale 44-39, Wesclin nipped Lawrenceville 41-40.

Pinckneyville stayed undefeated as they won their 3^rd straight Kaskaskian Classic, beating Carlyle in the championship 51-43.  Greenville was 3^rd over Flora 42-40, Okawville took 5^th place beating SIUE Charter 58-47 and the day opened with the 7^th place game seeing Hillsboro beating Woodlawn 50-45.

Herrin won the DuQuoin Tip Off beating Murphysboro in the title game 53-33, Carmi was 3^rd over Chester 44-38, Sparta won 5^th over DuQuoin 71-56 and Sesser took 7^th place over Cairo 79-65.
