Clinton County man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in death of housemate

A 52-year-old Jamestown man has pleaded guilty in Clinton County Court to involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Benjamin Bush of Main Street is accused of the June shooting death of 54-year-old Gordon McClellan in the house they shared.

All the other charges pending against Bush were dropped.  They included four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm as well as aggravated battery and involuntary manslaughter.

McClellan had been found dead in the home by first responders.

Jamestown is a small community located northwest of Carlyle.
