Judges had to pick from a large number of unique Halloween contests during the annual competition sponsored by the Salem Recreation Department and YMCA before the start of Trick or Treating Tuesday night.
In the family division, Austin, Jozlynne, and Darinda Casellari and their dog Thora took top honors (right). 2nd place went to Justin, Amanda, Naomi and Toby Draper and their cat Finn (center). 3rd place went to Miranda, Kat, Jilian, and Samantha Dailey and dog Violet (left).
In the Age 3 and younger category, Lucas Spain dressed as a plane took first (right). Stetson Hannigan was second (center) and Knox Raires third (left).
In the Age 4 to 7 division, Korra Moore was first (center), Levy McCoy 2nd (right), and Brynna Bookhout was third (left).
In the 8 to 12-year-old division, Kinnley Hannigan was first (right), Emily Young was second (center), and Ryan Young third (left).
The annual competition was held at the Salem Community Theatre.
