Organizers of the Centralia Halloween Parade and Fall Festival say they are pleased with the turnout for Saturday events despite the weather.
Parade Chair Butch Mathus was pleased with those at the parade despite a continuous light rain.
“75% of the entrants were here tonight and I got to give a tip of the cap to everybody that made it possible. We had a parade and it went wonderful. I’m happy we had a wonderful day of activities along with the Kiddie Parade, so overall we were blessed.”
The Chair of the Fall Festival events, Kayla Lambert, was also pleased with the day events where it never rained despite sometimes threatening skies.
“It held out for the day events and I thought we had a good crowd. We had great entertainment for the day. Full crowd for the chili cookoff. The Kiddie Parade was a great success as usual, as was the car show.”
Five teams took part in the chili cook-off. The winner of the chili cook-off was Corey Miller. Carol Oestreich was second and the Bones team created by Jessica and Sherry Bryan was third. The People’s Choice with 204 votes was the Bones Table. They received a 1st place trophy and $75 cash. Taking second was Corey Miller. The best-decorated booth trophy was awarded to the Bones team.
In the pet costume competition, Jamesyn Lyons with Otis dressed as Sully was first. Second went to Raylynn Parker with Bella dressed as a gremlin. Third went to Lexi Smith was Rosie as Pennywise.
