The Christ Our Rock Silver Stallion Boys XC team finished 4th today at the IHSA Class 1A regional XC at Trenton-Wesclin.
Sr. Elijah Gregory in his last regional race claimed the individual regional Championship title (16:11) edging Roxana’s Hunter Ponce by 1 second in an exciting race. Jr. Zerek Koch also had a strong race finishing 13th overall (17:15) running 2nd for the Stallions. Fr. Carson Pigg improved his time from the Wesclin Invitational finishing 29th(18:13). Jr. Isaiah Lyons ran a strong #4 coming in 42nd (18:46). Fr. Wyatt Gregory rounded out the scoring for The Stallions finishing 47th (18:55). Fr. Anderson Engele made sure had anyone faltered the Stallions would still advance running a PR in 56th place (19:11). And Liagel Lyons also ran strong 89th(22:57).
For the Lady Stallions Sr. Sarah McKowen was a regional medalist finishing 5th edging out Breese Mater Dei’s Emma Deikemper by a nose as the both finished with identical times (18:59.3). Jr. Rylee Brammeier also punched her ticket to the Benton Sectional next Saturday finishing 15th (21:16) and qualifying as the 4th individual not on a qualifying team.
Coach Tim Koch told WJBD/WSIQ, “It was a great day for the Stallions and now they will attempt to give it all they have to qualify for the IHSA State Cross Country meet in Peoria at Detwiller Park, next Saturday at The Benton Class 1A Sectional IHSA Sectional! Way to go Stallions this coach is very proud of all of you!”
Meanwhile, Woodlawn High School Freshman Zelena Koch is headed to the IHSA Class 1A Benton Sectional Cross Country Meet after Qualifying this morning as the 3rd individual not on a qualifying team at The Trenton-Wesclin IHSAClass 1A Sectional meet. Koch was 14th overall in the race running a PR of 21:04 for the 3 mile course. She ran her best at the right time as XC postseason has approached in
Illinois.
