The Salem Wildcats season came to an end on Trojan Hill in Charleston falling last night 29-13 to finish the season at 4-5. Salem doubled their win total from a year ago, but its no consolation for the Cats who opened the season at 3-1 before finishing 1-4. Salem trailed 7-0 when Angel Salgado scored from 2 yards out to make it 7-7 after the first quarter. The Trojans would go ahead with a score in the 2nd, but Salem drove 50 yards and Sam Greene went in from 1 yard out but the PAT was no-good making the score 14-13 Trojans at the half.
The 2nd half saw the Trojans bleed the clock and Salem only had 2 possessions the entire half as they would eventually fall. Lyric Black has an interception for the Cats defense. Jeremiah Reinhardt ran the ball 22 times for 71 yards, Greene added 23 yards on 10 carries. He was 6-of-15 for 49 yards and a pick. Connor Tennyson had the Cats biggest play from scrimmage, a 25 yards reception that set Salem up for one of their scores. The player of the game was undoubtedly Langdon King. The 6-3 seniors had 4 catches for 3 touchdowns of 46, 39 and 41 yards and had 135 yards receiving as well as a big interception as Salem was driving in the 2nd half.
