The 5/6th grade boys team had a great match against Breese but fell short 2-3. Grayson Frazier and Rylan Smith scored a goal each. Kayne Rhynes scored an impressive goal that would have tied the game, but was ruled out. Trevor Witzel, Jayden Newcomb, and Addy Nix provided essential midfield support. Maxsen Tiemann, Trevin Lewis, Ryder Horton, Piper Stanford, Zane and Kai Wesselmann made a great defensive line. Caleb Dice had many great saves as goalie.
The 7/8th grade Coed team had a successful Sunday. Salem won against Effingham in the first of two games on the evening, 3-0 with goals from Sarah Hosie, who opened the scoring and two goals from Noah Gaston. John Hahs recorded the shutout in net in front of good play by the defense. Salem then went on to defeat Harrisburg’s all boys team 2-1. Both Salem goals came on a penalty kick by Nate Lowry and the game winning goal by Sarah Hosie.
