The junior high baseball and softball seasons will finish up today with the Class L and Class M state finals, with the Class S tournaments finishing up yesterday.
At Coulterville in Class S softball, Trinity St Mary took 3rd place over Waltonville 4-1. Emrie Quick allowed 1 run and struck out 10. Bailey Pingsterhaus doubled home a run along with Quick and Rylie Neuhaus added a hit and scored. The Defenders finish the season at 16-2.
New Hope won the state title over Century 5-1.
In baseball, Altamont Lutheran baseball fell in the championship to Our Lady of Mount Carmel 1-0. Bluford/Farrington won the 3rd place game over St Peter & Paul 11-0.
Today in Class L baseball at Centralia, DuQuoin and Waterloo play at 11 for 3rd followed by the state title game with Olney and Carterville. In Class L softball at the same times it’s DuQuoin and Sparta/Lincoln for 3rd followed by Carterville and Wesclin.
In Class M at Pinckneyville, in baseball it’s Goreville and Gallatin County followed by Nashville and Trico. In softball it’s Coulterville/Marissa taking on Jonesboro followed by Nashville and Fairfield.
