The Salem Lady Wildcat golfers advanced to the 1a State Tournament this weekend following a 3rd place finish at Taylorville yesterday. Salem had 3 girls tie for 7th place shooting 85s. Mya Russell, Alyssa Paul and Taylor Ice pulled the trick with teammate Mak Mann shooting 92, Kylie Johnson 97 and Jaryn Haarmann 101. Mt Carmel won the event shooting 315, Massac County 338 and Salem 347 easily outdistancing themselves from Effingham who was 4th shooting a 372. The Lady Cats will compete Friday at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur. It’s the first trip as a team to state since the mid-90s for the SCHS Lady Cats.
