Salem senior Jairen Stroud will continue his golf season at the State Tournament this weekend following his 3rd place finish at Mt Carmel yesterday. Stroud shot 71 which was good for a 3-way tie. Benton’s Kash Cantrell won the event with a 69 and Jacob Florek of Mascoutah shot 70. Also advancing as individuals with Stroud were Breese Central’s Konnor Kueper and Olney’s Reese Glover. Benton won the team title shooting 288 and move on along with Mattoon and Charleston. Breese Central was 1 shot back of advancing as a team and Columbia 2 back. Stroud will compete at the 2a State Tournament this weekend at Weibring Golf Club in Normal.
