A 26-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with threatening a public official and domestic battery.

Jace Zimmerman of South Cherry was ordered by Judge Josh Morrison held in the Marion County Jail without bond until his next court appearance which is currently set for October 11th.

According to the charging document, Zimmerman is accused of placing a public official or immediate family member in reasonable apprehension of future bodily harm or sexual assault by raping the police officer’s girlfriend and kids. The domestic battery charge accuses Zimmerman of shoving a family member.

The threats against the officer were allegedly made as Zimmerman was being transported to the Marion County Jail.

State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth filed the motion seeking to hold Zimmerman based on the dangerous standard saying the detention was needed to protect the public and alleged victims.

Zimmerman indicated he would hire his own attorney.
