Salem will be well represented today at the Golf Sectionals. The Lady Cats team will compete at Taylorville’s Lakeshore Golf Course after winning the Effingham Regional last week. The team of Alyssa Paul, Mya Russell, Taylor Ice, Jaryn Haarmann, Mak Mann and Kiley Vieira became the first team for the Lady Cats to win a regional since the mid 90s.
Individually competing at Taylorville will be Abby Steinkamp and Ava Meyer of Carlyle, Kennedy Jones of North Clay, the Vandalia trio of Abby Tate, Sophia McNealy and Dakira Brown.
Salem’s Jairen Stroud will compete as an individual at West Berwick in Mt Carmel. He advanced out of the Centralia Regional last week along with Xander Asbhy and John Rincker of Mount Vernon.
In 1a at the Acorns in Woodlawn, Christ Our Rock’s Parker Boehne will compete along with Vandalia’s Conner McCall and Jonah Beesley and Ollie Collins of Flora.
