Today is the opening of the SIJHSAA State Baseball and Softball Tournaments. Centralia’s Rotary Park will host the Class L Tournaments. The baseball tournament starts at 10 a.m. with Marion and Carterville followed by Waterloo and Belleville Whiteside at 11, DuQuoin and Benton play at noon with Olney and Breese finishing up first round play at 1.
In Class M baseball at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Pinckneyville it will be Trico and Smithton at 9:30, Christopher and Gallatin County at 11:30, Aviston and Nashville at 1:30 and then Goreville and Maryville Christian at 3:30.
In Class S baseball at Coulterville City Park, St John Lutheran and Buford/Farrington open the day at 9:30, Our Lady of Mount Carmel plays St Joe Olney at 11:30k, Crab Orchard plays St Peter and Paul at 1:30 and then Altamont Lutheran takes on Shawnee at 3:30.
State Softball Tournaments Open Today
In softball Class L action in Centralia today, DuQuoin and Hamilton open the day at 10, Olney and Wesclin at 11, Massac and Carterville at noon and then Sparta Lincoln takes on Wolf Branch at 1.
In Class M, Smithton and Nashville play at 9:30, Jonesboro and Red Bud at 11:30, Crab Orchard plays Coulterville/Marissa at 1:30 and then Carrier Mills and Fairfield at 3:30.
In Class S softball, Pope County starts the day against Waltonville at 9:30, Century and Summersville play at 11:30, Our Lady of Mount Carmel takes on New Hope at 1:30 and then Trinity/St Mary’s will take on St John’s Lutheran at 3:30.
