Salem Lady Cats Win Effingham 1a Golf Regional

The Salem Lady Wildcats are regional golf champions after winning the Effingham title yesterday.  The Lady Cats shot 344 to advance to Taylorville on Monday along with St Anthony and Effingham who were 2nd and 3rd.

Individually, Alyssa Paul was 2nd overall shooting 79 as Salem but 4 golfers in the top 10 along with Mya Russell 3rd with an 83, Taylor Ice 4th at 87 and Jarynn Haarmann 9th at 95.  Mak Mann added a 100 and Kiley Vieira 116.

St Anthony’s Addie Krouse was the Regional Champ shooting 75.

Advancing as individuals included Vandalia’s Abby Tate, Sophia McNealy and Dakira Brown.

Also competing at Effingham but not advancing was a trio of Sandoval golfers, Jacey Wilkins, Morgan Sligar, Sierra Ford and Lexi King.

In the 1a Carterville Regional, Nashville advanced along with Zeiger and Red Bud.  Breese Central won the Marquette Regional shooting 359 moving on with Father McGivney and Mater Dei.  Also moving on as individuals are Columbia’s Avery Arendell and Sabrina Leingang; Freeburg’s Aubrie Smith and Lucy Sipula as well as Carlyle’s Abby Steinkamp and Ava Meyer.

The Mount Vernon Lady Rams were 12th at O’Fallon.  The Lady Rams were led by Cassy Hocking who shot 110.
