A 23-year-old Centralia woman was airlifted from the scene of a Wednesday afternoon single-vehicle crash on Green Street Road to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the vehicle driven by Krimsen Hufstedler of South Lincoln in Centralia ran off the road, struck a power pole, and overturned on its top.
Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera reports on arrival they found Hufstedler trapped in the vehicle by a live power line. Her car was sitting on top of part of the sheared-off pole after part of the pole went through the windshield. The transformer and the rest of the pole were on top of the overturned vehicle.
Boshera says fortunately Tri-County Electric had a crew nearby and were able to turn off the power to allow Hufstedler to get out of the vehicle. After a landing zone was created on the Green Street Road, the Air Evac landed and Hufstedler was taken to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred at two Wednesday afternoon between West Line and the Bell Club Road. The Green Street Road was closed to traffic for more than an hour.
