A 23-year-old Centralia man being sought in connection with a September 17th shooting of his father in the 500 block of North James in Centralia has surrendered himself to the US Marshals Service.

Jonathon Hunt is being held in the Clinton County Jail on an outstanding no-bond warrant for a Class X felony of aggravated battery, a Class 1 felony of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and a Class 2 felony of Aggravated Domestic Battery.

The court records identify the man who was shot as Jonathon Hunt, Jr.  While the shooting was said to be part of a domestic dispute, Centralia Police say they are still investigating the events that led up to the shooting.  The older Hunt received only minor injuries and was released following hospital treatment.

The younger Hunt had been the subject of a lengthy manhunt by multiple agencies on the night of September 17th after his car was found abandoned near the intersection of State Route 37 and 161 east of Centralia.

Centralia Police are thanking the US Marshal Service for assisting them in finding Hunt, as well as Clinton County State’s Attorney J.D. Brandmeyer, the Clinton, Marion, and Washington County Sheriff’s Departments, Illinois State Police, the New Baden, Aviston, Wamac, Central City, Carlyle, and Salem Police Departments and the Irvington and Iuka Fire Departments.
