Centralia Police broke up a burglary in progress in a home in the 1000 block of Hester Street in Centralia Friday morning.

Police say the homeowner returned home around 8:30 Friday morning to discover the whole front door had been ripped off and the glass in the door had been broken.  At that point, the owner called Centralia Police.

When police arrived, they allegedly found 35-year-old Michael Lutz, who told authorities he was homeless, inside.  Police say Lutz did not resist.  A bow and arrow with a loaded arrow was found next to Lutz, but he never reached for it.

Lutz was arrested for burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, and for possession of drug paraphernalia.   He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a formal decision on charges by the State’s Attorney.
