Salem man pleads guilty to 2019 burglary at Village Garden Restaurant

A 52-year-old Salem man has pleaded guilty to a July 2019 burglary to the Village Garden Restaurant in Salem.

Robert Meador of McCoy Road was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to complete 30 hours of public service work. A restitution hearing was set for November 22nd. As part of the plea, two counts of felony theft and one count of felony criminal damage to property in connection with the burglary were dropped. A separate felony count of possession of a controlled substance was also dropped.

Original reports from Salem Police accused Meador of causing about $60,000 in damage including using a crowbar to gain entry to four poker machines. The theft counts that were dropped accused him of taking $950 in currency from the Village Garden Restaurant and $7,300 from J and J Ventures.
