Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard has released details on a fatal head-on crash on Illinois Route 37 near the Rileyville Road intersection north of Dix Tuesday afternoon.
The person killed in the wreck is identified as 55-year-old Tina Scribner of Ferguson Street in Mt. Vernon. She was pronounced dead on the scene by a deputy Jefferson County Coroner.
Updated reports indicate there were three persons in the other vehicle, all of whom were injured. Dorothea McFarland of Mt. Vernon along with 63-year-old Iris Rudd of East Kendall Road in Mt. Vernon were both airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital for treatment. The driver of the car, 61-year-old Allen Rudd of East Kendall Road in Mt. Vernon, was taken by ground ambulance to a Mt. Vernon hospital for treatment.
Scribner reportedly was southbound on Route 37 in the northbound lane. Both Scribner and Rudd swerved in the same direction and hit head-on in the northbound lane.
State Police, Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Kell Fire also assisted in handling the wreck. It was reported at 3:46 Tuesday afternoon. Traffic was diverted off that section of Route 37 until just before eight Tuesday night.
