Selmaville found themselves down 7-2 to Iuka going into the bottom of the 4th when the bottom of their lineup drew a walk and followed that up with 2 singles and a double to score 3 runs to make it a 7-5 ball game.
Then Keira Meredith and the defense went into lockdown mode retiring the last 10 Iuka batters faced.
In the 5 inning Talya Gowler tripled and scored on a pass ball making it 7-6. The Lady Rockets went down in order in the 6th.
The bottom of the 7th saw number 9 hitter Brylee Carter singled then Shelby Johnson got a swinging bunt and beat it out , then Alana Howe dropped down a bunt to load the bases for number 3 hitter Kaolin Lewis stepped to the plate and hit a hard smash off the shortstop that went into left field scoring the tying and go ahead runs ending the game with an 8-7 victory! Brylee Carter was 2-3 with a double and an RBI ( she also threw out a Lady Pirate trying to stretch a single into a double and caught a warning track shot by Emily Jones). Alana Howe was also 2-3 with an RBI and 3 stolen bases. Johnson, Simmons, Finney, Gowler and Lewis all had one hit each!
Keira Meredith notched her 15 win of the season while striking out 12 batters! Kaolin Lewis had 6 assists on putouts at second base!
For Iuka, Katee Sellers struck out 8 in the loss and went 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBI. Kenzie McGinnis tripled home a run, Emily Jones doubled with an RBI, Rylee Wilson and Lilly Meyers also had hits and RBI. Kenley Cripps added a hit.
The Lady Rockets will travel to Christ our Rock high school to play in the championship game tomorrow at 4:30 against Hoffman!
I would like to congratulate the Lady Pirates on their season they increased their win total by 10 games in one year! Well done Players and Coaches!
Trinity St Mary advanced to their Class S regional final with a 15-0 win over Raccoon/Kell. Emrie Quick was the winning pitcher striking out 6 allowing 1 hit. Rylie Neuhaus had 3 hits and 4 RBI while scoring 3 times, Raylynn Parker tripled and scored 3 times, Reese Koester doubled with 2 RBI and Quick scored 3 times.
