An 80-year-old Dix man was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 37 at the Baseline Road on the Marion-Jefferson County line late Sunday afternoon.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reports Christopher Crawford of Matthews Road didn’t yield at a stop sign on Baseline Road and pulled his pickup into the path of a car on Route 37 driven by 67-year-old Brian Scott of Dewey Avenue in Mt. Vernon.
Crawford was thrown out of vehicle upon impact. An AirEvac Helicopter landed at the scene to transport Crawford to a regional hospital. Scott and a passenger, 55-year-old Lisa Scott also of Dewey Street in Mt. Vernon, declined medical treatment.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Kell Fire Department and United Medical Response were all on the scene to assist.
The crash occurred at 4:29 Saturday afternoon. Route 37 was closed down for about an hour and a half after the crash.
