Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say both drivers declined hospital treatment following a two vehicle rear-end crash on the Green Street Road near Ross Road between Salem and Centralia early Monday evening.
Reports indicate a pickup truck with a trailer driven by 37-year-old Jason Smith of Oak Street in Sandoval was eastbound and unable to stop for a car in front of him that had slowed to turn into a driveway driven by 66-year-old Orland Lockhart of Green Street Road in Centralia. Smith said he attempted to avoid the crash, but still struck the rear of the car. His pickup then overturned on its side.
Both the Centralia Fire Protection District and Lifestar Ambulance were called to the scene, but both drivers declined medical treatment.
Smith was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash was reported at five Monday evening.
