Both the Wildcat boys and girls cross country teams took fourth place Saturday at the 10 team Carbondale Invitational.
Leading the way for the girls was Breanna Thurman placing 8th in a time of 22:33 on a very tough 3.1 mile course. Maci Thorsen was 10th, Aila Laird 34th, Ivy Donoho 38th and Eden Russell 43rd. Carterville was the winner of the girls race followed by Centralia and Mt Vernon.
The boys race was won by a very tough Mt Vernon team with Carbondale taking second andHerrin 3rd. Hunter Malan,17:51 took 9th to lead the Wildcats, Caiden Beer was 13th in a time of 18:13, Alex Spencer 18:38 was 16th. Branson Pappas and Gabe Moffet rounded out the top five for the boys.
Both teams will run at Mt Vernon on Tuesday.
