The Salem City Council Tuesday night will be asked to give first reading approval to it 2024 property tax levy. A 2.4-percent increase is being request based on the city’s revenue needs for the coming year.
The council will also be asked to give first reading approval to an upgraded Investment Policy. Finance Director Keli Roth has compiled the upgraded policy after reviewing those in place in other cities. The policy outlines that types of instruments that can be used for municipal funds and the requirement for the deposits to be federally insured or collateralized among other things.
The purchase of new equipment for the waste water treatment plant that is part of this year’s budget will also be considered.
An Executive Session is on the agenda for the potential sale of real estate.
The meeting begins at six Tuesday night at Salem City Hall.
