Police Beat for Tuesday, September 5th, 2023

Salem Police have arrested 40-year-old Michael Talley of West Warmoth Street in Salem for alleged possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance.  Police say Talley was allegedly found in possession of the drugs on August 21st but was released without charges at that time until the confiscated materials could be tested.   The lab has now indicated the drugs contained meth and fentanyl.   As a result, police picked up Talley when they located him Monday near Broadway and Wells Street.

Centralia Police arrested 47-year-old Deanna Machak of Olive Avenue in rural Odin for possession of methamphetamine, possession of adult-use cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Centralia Police arrested 41-year-old Cherrie Berry of McKee Street in Centralia for aggravated battery to a police officer, domestic battery, and resisting arrest.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28-year-old Derek Todd of Du Quoin on a Perry County misdemeanor failure to appear warrant on a possession of drug paraphernalia case.  The bond is set at $15,000.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary to a shed in the 1300 block of Burks Road in rural Vernon.  A John Deere gator, microwave, chain saw and other items were reportedly stolen.
