The Patoka Fall Festival is this weekend.
The event starts Friday evening with the carnival and food booths opening at five pm. The main event will be the Equestrian Fun Show featuring Dusti Crain-Dickerson and Behind the Bit Drill Team as well as local equestrian group Patoka Pride. There will be a plug race, barrel race, barrel crawl race, flag race, and new this year is a parent pick up.
Saturday begins with the parade at eleven a.m. This year’s theme is ‘Honoring Past, Present and Future Heroes’. The Grand Marshals are the Patoka Fire Department and EMS. The festival committee notes they are so blessed to have these brave individuals volunteer to respond to emergencies and are honored to have them accept the invitation to marshal the parade.
Sign-in will be at the Day Macz Funeral Home parking lot beginning at 10 a.m. or pre-register on Facebook. There is a $100 prize this year for the Best Theme Float.
Immediately after the parade, Niemergs Restaurant will be serving a chicken dinner at the main pavilion. The Carnival will open with armbands along with other food and craft vendors. The bag tournament also begins at noon. Bingo and Cake Walk will begin at two p.m.
The demolition derby is the highlight of Saturday night. It begins with a Power Wheels Derby for the kids at 6:30. The Demo Derby follows with a $2,000 first-place prize guaranteed in semi-stock class and $1,000 guaranteed in Compact Class. Bond Class this year will have a guaranteed prize of $500. Big trophies and a unique Best of Show trophy will also be featured.
The festival concludes on Sunday with a Community Church Service beginning at 10:30 in the park.
