A 42-year-old Salem man was formally charged in Marion County Court on Tuesday with unlawful delivery of less than five grams of methamphetamine.
William Cherniak, who told authorities he was homeless, is charged with making the drug delivery to a confidential source of the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force on May 22nd of this year.
Cherniak had bond set at $15,000 and the public defender appointed to represent him.
Cherniak is the latest arrested in a round-up of those making sales of illegal drugs in the Salem area by the drug task force. He was taken into custody while walking near South Broadway and Lake Street on Monday night.
