Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force makes another meth delivery arrest in Salem

Another drug delivery arrest has been made by the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in Salem.

The task force and Salem Police arrested 42-year-old William Cody Cherniak on two counts of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine without incident when found walking in the area of Lake Street and South Broadway.  He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he awaits the filing of formal charges and the setting of bond.

The Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force is comprised of the Salem Police Department, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Robinson Police Department, the Mt. Carmel Police Department, and the Illinois State Police.   The ongoing investigation is a cooperative effort among the area police departments in an effort to curb drug usage and violence in the area.
