The Salem Youth Football Wildcats took a trip to Marion Saturday morning and came away with a pair of wins.
The varsity came away with a 30-22 overtime win. Kyler King had 4 touchdowns behind the great offensive line work of Trip Garden, Drake Rector, Colton Pitty, Silas Lux, Elijah Garrison, Landon Hurd, Caleb Squibb, Cameron Slater, Kylan “Butch” Cassidy and Hayden Thompson. Defensively Troy Keele had an interception, Scout Puricelli had several big play saving tackles and Rylan Lawson had a sack/fumble recovered by Lux on Marion’s first offensive play in overtime to seal the game.
The JV routed Marion 42-0. Emit Gibson, Eli Purdy, Angelo Wilkins, Tanner Purintun and Ben Lux all had rushing touchdowns. Vince Krajefska had a receiving score. Purdy had an interception and Kaiden Washington accounted for 3 sacks and a forced fumble.
The SYFL Wildcats are back in action this Saturday at Jim Finks Field hosting Carbondale.
