Police Beat for Monday, August 28th, 2023

Centralia Police have arrested a Centralia woman for alleged aggravated battery, robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon.   Angela Mullens of East 13th is accused of striking a woman in the body and head with a tire iron in the 300 block of North Walnut Sunday morning after allegedly getting into an argument over a speaker Mullens said she did not have.  Police say Mullens is also accused of attempting to take the alleged victim’s bicycle before the victim was able to ride away to another location to call police.  The alleged victim declined hospital treatment for her injuries.  Mullens was arrested on the charges when located by police early Monday morning.

Patoka Police arrested 24-year-old Jered Cain of Lougue Road in Patoka for alleged aggravated battery.   He’s accused of jumping a 21-year-old Centralia man outside the Lucky Marble bar in Patoka.  The alleged victim went to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia on his own for treatment.

Centralia Police arrested 29-year-old Devon Cross of East 4th in Breese on two counts of domestic battery.  He was also taken to the Marion County Jail.

47-year-old Robert Dempsey of Wabash Avenue in Centralia was arrested by Wamac Police on an outstanding DUI warrant.  He later posted $500 cash bond and was released from the Marion County Jail.
