Police Beat for Thursday, August 24th, 2023

A 22-year-old Patoka man has been arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies for misuse of 911 and resisting arrest.  The sheriff’s department reports William Lewis of East Bond had called 911 to report he needed a play to stay.   He allegedly called 911 a second time to report he had found a place.   When approached about the calls, deputies decided to arrest Lewis.  He allegedly fought getting into a squad car and was able to free one hand from a pair of handcuffs before he was secured and taken to the Marion County Jail.

Sandoval Police arrested 18-year-old Anton Berkle of Wall Street in Sandoval for battery and criminal damage to property.  He was later given a notice to appear in court.

Four people were taken to the Marion County Jail on outstanding warrants.  35-year-old Megan Schulte of South Livingston in Carlyle was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a Marion County failure to appear felony warrant on a pending possession of methamphetamine case and was being held in lieu of $10,000 bond.  69-year-old Myrna Kretzer of North Jefferson in Salem was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on an outstanding Fayette County felony warrant on a pending possession of methamphetamine charge.  She was later transferred to the Fayette County Jail in Vandalia.   34-year-old Rio Hamer of Jones Road in Alma was arrested on a Fayette County DUI warrant.  He later posted $360 cash bond and was released.   41-year-old Jacklin Tate of Marquis Drive in Centralia was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a Clinton County misdemeanor failure to appear warrant on a pending criminal trespass to property case and was being held in lieu of $2,500 bond.

A 34-year-old Salem man has been arrested by sheriff’s deputies at the Marion County Courthouse for alleged contempt of court.
