Near-perfect weather for the first night of Balloon Fest draws a large crowd for the first flight and glow of this year’s event on Friday night.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marcus Holland was pleased.
“We have a wide array of balloons that are beautiful, colorful, and exciting. Kids love Wags the Dog and now we have Cazooee the Zebra and our special shapes of the soccer ball and the rocket. They were all set up last night and they all flew out. We then had the glow. There were great crowds. The stage we added was really the highlight of all the feedback we’re getting. It’s great to have a professional event and a big event like this in our community. We have over 100 craft and food vendors. It’s been a big event already and we’re looking forward to tonight.”
Another flight was held Saturday morning. Balloons lifted off from Foundation Park and flew north and northwest.
Balloon Fest continues Saturday night in Foundation Park with the lift-off of the POW/MIA balloon and another balloon carrying the American flag to honor veterans around 5:30. The big Balloon Glow will follow at 7:30. Tethered balloon rides will also be available again on Saturday after a record number took rides on Friday.
