Police Beat for Wednesday, August 16th, 2023

Salem Police have arrested a 38-year-old homeless Salem man on two counts of domestic battery. Robert Visser is accused of striking two relatives during a disagreement at his mother’s home in Salem. He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.

A 30-year-old Hillsboro man, Dalton Lile, was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and taken to the Marion County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond on a Bond County felony warrant.

A 34-year-old Vandalia man was arrested by Salem Police on an outstanding Fayette County warrant for failure to appear in court on a pending felony theft charge. Bond on the warrant is set at $5,000.

43-year-old Daniel Hill of Downers Grove was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a 2011 Marion County misdemeanor warrant. He posted $750 bond and was released.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of a motorcycle from a home in the 1800 block of North Broadway in Salem. The green 2020 Kawasaki 203R was chained to a pole on the driveway of the home. The chain was cut and the bike appeared to have been driven off. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s department.
