A 32-year-old Centralia woman had bond set at $9,000 after being formally charged in Marion County Court on Friday with possession of under five grams of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor theft.
Centralia Police say a resident of the Library Apartments on South Sycamore had reported seeing a woman walking around that didn’t live there pick up a package outside a door and walk away. Police then received information that Meeks had walked to the same house on East Broadway where two others had been arrested earlier in the week for a burglary to a downtown Centralia business. Police knocked on the partially open door and located Meeks. The package, which the court charge said was a vinyl record, was then located.
Police already knew from the owner from the prior burglary investigation that no one was supposed to be in the building. Police believe there is no connection between the two cases.
While Meeks was being arrested on the theft charge, she was allegedly found in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
Meeks had a public defender appointed to represent her.
