Bond has been set at $50,000 for a 23-year-old Mt. Vernon man who was formally charged in Marion County Court on Thursday for alleged aggravated domestic battery as well as misdemeanor domestic battery. Savon Wright of South 22nd is accused of impeding the breathing and grabbing the neck of his girlfriend with his hand. Salem Police say the incident occurred on Wednesday in a vehicle on the Selmaville Road when he was taking his girlfriend to work. If released on bond, Wright was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim. The public defender was appointed to represent Wright.
Bond was set at $5,000 for 28-year-old Derrick Coomer of East Boone in Salem who was charged with domestic battery. He is accused of striking and kicking a household or family member in the leg with his legs. If released on bond, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim. Coomer indicated he would hire his own attorney.
A 30-year-old Salem woman has been charged with possession of under five grams of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for Marie Anderson of East Mitchell Street was set at $3,000. As a condition of a release on bond, she was ordered to abstain from illegal substances.
