The Third Annual ‘Smoke on the Water Fest’ is set this weekend on Raccoon Lake. Castle Ridge is once again sponsoring the boat races and entertainment around the event.
Race Organizer Al Owen is expecting a large number of competitors for the racing that will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this year.
“I think we are going to have a similar turnout as last year. We filled up the whole point and park area. We had well over 110 entries I believe. We had people as far away as Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, just all over.”
Owen says there will actually be two separate competitions.
“We are going to have the US Title Series Pro Racing along with the National Boat Racing Association.”
Owen says it will be the National Championship for the NRBA.
Viewing for the event will be from Castle Ridge which is excited to once again be hosting the event and providing entertainment. A live standup comedy show featuring comedian Brian Hicks, as seen on Dry Bar Comedy is scheduled for eight Friday night. On Saturday, there will be a vendor market, food, yard games and activities beginning at eleven am. Live music by the 80’s Cover Band Brat Pack will begin at 7:30 Saturday night. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. VIP tables are available for the concert and can be reserved on the Castle Ridge website castleridgeevents.com. Castle Ridge will have food and refreshments available on Sunday as the racing finals take place.
