Police Beat for Thursday, August 10th, 2023

Centralia Police have arrested 30-year-old Marie Anderson-Hernandez of East 3rd in Centralia for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a narcotic instrument. She was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.

Salem Police have arrested 23-year-old Savon Wright of South 22nd Street in Mt. Vernon for aggravated domestic battery via strangulation. Police report Wright got into a fight with his girlfriend while taking her to work on the Selmaville Road. He was taken into custody when returning to take her home.

Salem Police arrested 28-year-old Derrik Coomer of East Boone in Salem for alleged domestic battery after he allegedly struck his girlfriend in an altercation at a home in the 800 block of North Marion Street.

Centralia City Firemen were called to the Monica Juds home in the 900 block of South Walnut Street to what was feared to be a house fire Wednesday afternoon. The problem turned out to be a short in an extension cord that was causing the home to fill with smoke. There was no damage reported except to the extension cord.
