A 73-year-old Nashville woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding her bike on the Oakdale Blacktop one mile east of Oakdale early Tuesday night.
Randy Love was pronounced dead on the scene by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger.
The coroner says it appears Love was riding westbound on the Oakdale Blacktop when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. Details on the vehicle which struck her remain unclear.
The Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit as well as their Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Other agencies at the scene were the Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Coulterville Fire Department, Washington County EMA, and the Washington County Coroner.
An autopsy will be performed in O’Fallon.
The incident was reported at 5:56 Tuesday evening.
